Jess is an IBCLC, High-Risk Labor and Delivery/Postpartum nurse, and Healthcare Liaison at Breastfeed Durham. With a strong commitment to serving families from diverse and underrepresented communities, Jess trained as a lactation consultant through the Mary Rose Tully Training Initiative (MRT-TI) at UNC Gillings School of Public Health from 2023 to 2024. She began working as an inpatient lactation consultant in February 2024, supporting families in the postpartum unit and in the NICU.
As the Healthcare Liaison for Breastfeed Durham, Jess connects healthcare providers, community organizations, and families to ensure accessible, inclusive breastfeeding support. She advocates for breastfeeding policies that promote equity and facilitates educational programs to improve breastfeeding outcomes, particularly for families facing systemic barriers to care.
Jess is excited to join the TBTN team and looks forward to expanding her expertise in outpatient care while promoting equitable breastfeeding practices for families in the Durham area.
