Lauren is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, doula, and environmental health scientist. She trained as a lactation consultant through the Mary Rose Tully Training Initiative (MRT-TI) at UNC-Chapel Hill, which is also where she received her doctorate in environmental health with a focus on women’s and children’s health outcomes. Lauren brings experience providing family-centered, holistic care as a doula, as well as skills translating complex medical research for patients. Lauren enjoys providing compassionate, evidence-based care for all kinds of families and is particularly interested in navigating challenging suck and latch issues, and supporting postpartum mental health. Lauren lives in Durham with her husband, baby son, and their tiny dog “Tedi."
Jaimie began her journey with lactation support in 2014 through the Mary Rose Tully Training Initiative (MRT-TI) at UNC Chapel Hill’s Gillings School of Global Public Health. Jaimie met Ellen through this experience and had the pleasure of working with her to provide care to birthing parents and babies while also helping with research projects to learn more about people’s experiences with lactation and lactation support. Jaimie has been an IBCLC since 2015, but has primarily been using her Masters in Public Health while supporting projects for the Collaborative for Maternal and Infant Health at UNC. Jaimie’s passion is working directly with dyads, so she is thrilled to have the opportunity to be Ellen’s mentee and to re-enter the arena of providing lactation support! Outside of work, Jaimie loves spending time connecting with family and friends, bowling, and picking up whatever crafting project or hobby strikes her fancy at the time!
